Lost of memories - A good thing or a bad thing?

My uncle got robbed on new years' day in singapore during midnight. Until now, he is still lying on the hospital bed in singapore. A few of my relatives managed to went over to the hospital to visit him. They had asked him about the what happen about him. They asks him how did he get into the hospital.

Surprisingly, he answered, "2 planes crashed onto each other."

After they returned back they share this piece of information to all of us. Some of us thinks that it is a good thing, as it is good to forget about unpleasant past, but yet some of us thinks that it is not a good thing, as those robbers should be caught and severely punished, if not they might do it again, and more people would get hurt.

In the beginning of the first few weeks, he did remember about the robbers robbing him. But now, he do not even remember it, instead he said he is being sent to hospital because 2 planes crashed onto each other while it is flying(I bet situation would be more critical if it is really plane crash).

Some of us suspected that he is lying to us, as he do not want all of us to worry about him. The reason is because he did remember about the incident in the beginning few weeks, but after that, he began to said that he is being sent to hospital by plane crash. Moreover, he still remembered every single one of us(for all those who visited him, including relatives and friends), this shows that his memory should not be a problem.

Whether it is really losing memory or just an act, we decided not to ask him further question, and all we wish for is just that he could faster recover and go back home, and after he had recovered, we will then continue to ask him and see if he could still remember part of the incident.

Whether he really lose his memory or not, both have its advantages. If he remembered the incident, there is hope for the robbers to be caught, as there is also an eye-witness who is willing to help us. If he already forget about the incident, it is also a good thing as he could forget about all the unpleasant past. The most important thing right now is to hope that he could recover soon, and to leave his hospital bed.
